Godox AD600Pro II & AD800Pro: High-Power Lighting for Studio and Location

It combines 600Ws of flash power with extremely fast 0.01–0.9 second recycling, approximately 360 full-power flashes per battery charge, TTL, High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000 second, and a broad 1/512-to-full-power adjustment range. Its 40W bi-color LED modeling light is adjustable from approximately 2800K to 6000K.
The AD600Pro II is an excellent choice for portrait, senior, family, wedding, fashion, dance, headshot, commercial and location photographers who want substantial power without stepping all the way up to an 800Ws system.
AD800Pro: When You Need Even More Power
Sometimes 600Ws simply isn't enough.
The AD800Pro increases maximum output to 800Ws, making it especially useful for overpowering bright sunlight, working with very large modifiers, lighting groups, increasing flash-to-subject distance, and other situations where additional output provides valuable working room.
Despite its additional power, the AD800Pro still offers 0.01–1.5 second recycling, approximately 300 full-power flashes per charge, power adjustment from 1/512 to full power, TTL, High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000 second, Freeze Mode, a 40W bi-color modeling lamp and the Godox X wireless system.
For photographers regularly working outdoors in difficult ambient light—or anyone who simply wants more power available when needed—the AD800Pro is an impressive step up.
One Lighting System for Studio AND Location
One of the biggest advantages of these flashes is versatility.
Use them on battery power in the studio and you can eliminate unnecessary power cords while positioning your lights wherever you want them. Take those same flashes on location and you have professional lighting without needing access to electrical outlets.
Both can also use the optional Godox AC26 adapter, allowing you to operate from AC power when that's preferable for long studio sessions.

Build the System Around the Way You Shoot

The H600P Extension Head: A Smart Addition for Boom Lighting
If you use a boom, the Godox H600P extension head is an accessory worth considering.
Instead of putting the weight of the complete flash and battery at the working end of your boom, the much lighter H600P can be positioned with your modifier while the heavier flash body remains lower on the stand or closer to the boom's pivot point.
This reduces weight and leverage at the working end of the boom, makes overhead lighting easier to position, and allows the flash body and controls to remain within easier reach.
The H600P can be used with both of these high-power platforms, with the proper flash tube configuration for the AD800Pro.
AD600Pro II or AD800Pro: Which Should You Choose?
For most photographers looking for a powerful professional strobe, we'd start with the AD600Pro II. Its combination of 600Ws output, fast recycling, TTL, portability and professional features makes it an excellent all-around high-power workhorse.
Choose the AD800Pro when you know you'll benefit from the additional output—particularly for outdoor work in strong sunlight, very large modifiers, larger sets, groups or greater working distances.
More power isn't automatically better. The best flash is the one that provides the output you need while still fitting the way you work.

Godox AD600Pro II & AD800Pro FAQ
How much more powerful is the AD800Pro than the AD600Pro II?
The AD800Pro provides 800Ws compared with 600Ws from the AD600Pro II. That's about one-third more flash energy, or roughly 0.4 stop more maximum output.
That may not sound enormous, but when you're already working near maximum power, that extra output can provide useful additional working distance, help compensate for light loss through large modifiers, or give you more ability to compete with bright ambient light.
Is the AD600Pro II powerful enough for outdoor photography?
Absolutely. The AD600Pro II's 600Ws output makes it an excellent outdoor portrait and location flash, including situations where you're balancing flash against bright ambient light.
The AD800Pro becomes particularly attractive when you're regularly working in very bright conditions or want additional power in reserve.
Are the AD600Pro II and AD800Pro good studio flashes?
Yes. In fact, we think they're frequently overlooked as studio lights.
Battery operation means you don't need AC cords running from every light stand to a wall outlet, making lights easier to reposition and helping reduce cable clutter. Their fast recycling, powerful modeling lights, wide power range and Bowens modifier mounts also make them extremely capable studio strobes.
Can I run the AD600Pro II and AD800Pro on AC power?
Yes. Both support the optional Godox AC26 adapter, giving you the choice between convenient battery operation and continuous AC power.
This makes it easy to use the same flash system for both location photography and longer studio sessions.
Can the AD600Pro II and AD800Pro use the same Godox transmitter?
Yes. Both are part of the Godox 2.4GHz X wireless system and can be incorporated into the same multi-light setup with compatible Godox X-system transmitters.
That also means you can mix them with smaller compatible Godox flashes when building a multi-light system.
What modifiers can I use with the AD600Pro II and AD800Pro?
Both use the Bowens accessory mount, one of the most widely used modifier mounts in professional photography.
That gives you a large selection of compatible softboxes, parabolic modifiers, beauty dishes, reflectors and other lighting tools.
Should I buy a spare battery?
It depends on how you shoot. The AD600Pro II is rated for approximately 360 full-power flashes per charge, while the AD800Pro is rated for approximately 300 full-power flashes per charge.
Because most photographers aren't firing every photograph at full power, a battery can provide substantial real-world shooting capacity. For weddings, long commercial assignments, heavy location shooting or situations where you can't easily recharge, however, a spare battery can be inexpensive insurance.
Should I choose the AD600Pro II or AD800Pro?
Choose the AD600Pro II if you want an excellent balance of high output, fast recycling and portability for professional studio and location photography.
Choose the AD800Pro if maximum available output is more important and you regularly photograph outdoors in bright sunlight, use very large modifiers, light larger groups or sets, or simply want more power in reserve.
