Godox is constantly updating firmware for flashes and transmitters to add new features, adapt to new camera releases, fix bugs, etc. While some folks believe in always having the latest firmware, our philosophy is a little more conservative: Unless you want a new feature or need a bug fixed, leave it be. :)
Updating firmware is a two-step process. You will need to download the installer software as well as the firmware itself. Please note that these are RAR compressed, and you will need to use extraction software like WinZip or something similar to uncompress these files.
- Firmware Installer. You will need the proper Godox Firmware Installer to match your device. Most devices released in the past 5 years utilize the G3 Installer. Older gear will need either the G1 or G2 Installer. Be sure to download and use the one that is specific to your device. Note that while the G3 installer is available for both Windows and Mac, the G1 and G2 installers will only work on Windows machines. You can find the firmware installers here: https://godox.com/firmware-launcher-installers/
- Firmware. Be sure to download the firmware specific to your device (e.g., Sony version for your XPro S, etc.). Using the wrong firmware will brick your device. Usually, the correct firmware can be reflashed to revive your device, but let's not have to do that. ;)
