The Flex LED Surround Kit is an updated version of a lighting setup that MoLight founder and master photographer, Michael Mowbray, has been using in his studio for many years:

“I originally created this setup using speedlights in two stripboxes and two square softboxes, one top and one bottom, to create a window of light I could shoot through. It’s a fantastic lighting setup for headshots and mid-length portraits. And it can even work for full-length if you remove the bottom piece that provides the upward fill. When Godox released the ultra flexible and portable FLEX LED system, I knew that I had to put this kit together to share with the rest of the photographic community.”

Why this setup?

“First of all, I love the light it creates. It pops the face and especially the eyes, without the flatness and alien catchlights of ringlights and some of the three light systems out there. This, to me, looks more like the photographer is standing in front of a huge bay of windows. Second of all, the speed and flexibility in changing the lighting direction and ratios. By simply turning off the right strip light, I create dimensional light from left to right. Flip that back on and turn off the left strip, now I have dimensional light from right to left. Without moving a light, without moving the subject, I now have three different lighting looks. Turn off both the left and the right and I now have a fourth look – clamshell/butterfly. The speed, efficiency, and variety of work that can be created with the main four lights is amazing.”

Where do the light wands and the RGB color LED in the kit come into play?

“If I was excited about the options with the main four lights, I am downright giddy now that I can have extremely portable kickers as well as a background light that changes colors. Drop a studio gray seamless behind your subject, flip on the LA150R, connect the Godox Light app via Bluetooth, and now you can dial in whatever color you want on the background. One seamless paper background + the LA150R = endless background color possibilities! The LC500 lightwands with their included barn doors attached provide me with daylight or tungsten colored kickers, which sometimes is a nice change of pace. Did I mention that all of these lights (except for the LA150R) can be controlled from one simple remote? This is a gamechanger and is now my go-to headshot lighting setup.”

The Lights

The FL Flexible LED Lights from Godox is a lightweight fabric-based LED fixtures that roll up for storage and transport. It’s an extremely portable and portable LED system that is excellent for use virtually anywere! Headshots. Interviews. The list goes on and on. It is useful for imaginative imagers makers who realize the potential of shaping their quality of light by literally shaping the light source. An X-Mount Holder is provided for those who want to use it as conventional panel.

The light has a variable color range of 3300 to 5600K, allowing it to meet the challenge of any ambient light condition, match other fixtures, or just be used to shoot creatively. The FL LEDs have high CRI/TLCI ratings of 96/98 to indicate advanced accuracy in color rendering. Light intensity is variable too, from 10-100%. Both functions can be fine-tuned on the fixture's controller as well as adjusted at distances up to 98' with the included wireless remote. There's also a downloadable GodoxPhoto app to allow wireless control from a smartphone.

AC or DC Power

The FL LEDs are ready for worldwide use thanks to its universal 100 to 240V controller that also has a plate on its flip side for optional V-mount batteries (sold separately). A carry case for each light is provided for storage and transport. We also include two padded lightstand cases as well.
